        “Chan Kin” Protection Area of Flora and Fauna 

 

This is a protection of flora and wildlife zone, located in the Ocosingo municipality, in the east of Chiapas State.



Flora:

Predominate the perennifolia jungle, the trees measure about 60 meters, for example the cansan, the mahogany, the cedar, the guanacastle, the aro, and ramon. There are some species in extinction danger for example the lacandonia schismatica.




Wildlife 

Its weather type is tropical forest, there are some birds use this weather to live. For example: the elegant eagle, the harpia eagle, the Tirana eagle, the white-chest eagle, the real condor, the cinnamon-chest hawk, the red macaw, and the real toucan. In the mammalian animals there are some jaguar, the ocelot, and the tapir.

Lodging in economic and warm cabin.

Eat in this zone under the trees, where they can offer you typical food.


Location:

This place is located inside the Lacandona jungle, near to the frontier with Guatemala.

How to get there?  You can arrive only traversing paths

What do you do? Wildlife sighting, hiking, take an excursion, typical foods, flora sighting, etnoturismo, and photograph.
