Archaeological zone of Palenque.
It is a Mayan archaeological site in that is located now the town of Palenque, located in the Mexican state of Chiapas, near the Usumacinta River. It is one of the most impressive sites of this culture.
Flora and fauna.
You can appreciate
the flora and fauna in an extension of more 1700 ha. That represent of the Palenque
national park, where habit different types of birds and mammals like the
howlers monkeys.

In addition to the museum, it has a service unit with sale of publications
and reproductions, cafes, handicrafts.
Hours: Monday to Sunday from 08:00 to 17:00.
Collection Access: 65 pesos include services available in the area:There are
museum, Services Unit shops INAH and Brand Chiapas, library, auditorium,
children's workshops, guided visits to schools, health groups in Services Unit,
at the box office and into thesite visits. Students, teachers the national education
system, as well as retirees, pensioners with valid ID is free.

How to get there?
In the northern part of the state, located in the jungle region is the
city of Palenque,which can be reached using the highways 190 and 199 at a
distance of about 6 hours, starting from Tuxtla Gutierrez, the state capital. It´s 7 km east of the archaeological zone and of the national park, it’s located the Palenque city. From Villahermosa, Tabasco, Federal Highway 186, Escarcega Campeche is taken. At kilometer 114 the deviation leading to the town of Palenque, where 38 km are traveled is taken, paved road. Visitors can reach the site by public transport, however, it must walk to the entrance of the site.
Recommendations.
Do not leave trails, respect not open to the public
and information signs and restricted areas, and visit the site with comfortable
shoes, preferably tennis.
