EL LAGARTERO ARCHAEOLOGICAL ZONE

 



LOCATED:

It is located 68 kilometers from Comitan, it goes through the federal
 highway 190 until you reach the cruise Chamic where a turn left 
along a paved access 7 kilometers, which leads him to the ejido
 Christopher Columbus is taken, continuing walk 1 kilometer to reach
 the site.

DESCRIPTION :
An archaeological site of great historical importance for its development
 as a civic, religious and cultural center in the Maya area in an upper basin 
of the Grijalva River,with a particular architectural style carved stone. 
Most of the ruins are on small islands and peninsulas projecting into the 
lakes, two-thirds of the area devoted to ceremonial rites and with the central
 area being the island El Limonar.

RECOMMENDATIONS:
To wear comfortable clothes and brings hiding swimsuit since the lagartero
 archeological site is located in area we can find some restaurants and
 some hotel in the village.

LOCATION: 
Traversing this small ejido and a half
hour walking through a neighborhood 
dirt road and small islands covered lowland 
decidua through seven wooden bridges, which makes comfortable and quick crossing.
