AGUA AZUL


 Description:
 Agua Azul river descends its limestone bed in steps forming a series of stunning waterfalls that create natural pools contained for calcerous dikes, called “ gours” in geological terminology.

Flora and fauna:
the animals found there include:  jaguar and tapir birds like the scarlet macaw. The toucan canoe, oposum mouse, numerous species of bats as: Toltec artibeus, corolilla subrufa, myotis elegans. Also home to birds that come from tropical forest such as: the troglodyte sylvan.
Latitudinal variations, determine the existence of main types of vegetation in the area: tropical rain forest, oak forest, tropical forest, Palma, semi-aquatic vegetation. Its sits on the banks of rivers and water bodies, is characterized for the sapodilla water and some legumes. Common name Guayacan, serrano oak, wild cherry, lime love and yourself.

cabins, restaurants, craftsman ship, parking lot, bathrooms and tourist guide.  Fees approximate are of $40 for person.

                                                                            Location:
 they are north of the state of Chiapas, Tumbala town 64 km from the city of Palenque (60 km, 199 road Ocosingo and 4km for a dirt turnoff).

How to get: to reach the waterfalls of Agua Azul you can do down the road from Palenque, which is 69 kilometer. Or from San Cristobal, which is 200 kilometers, if you arrive in Tuxtla Gutierrez take the road leading to San Cristobal and from there go in the direction of Palenque, before coming to his city, you will find the detour that will take you to this wonderful Natural attraction. 

Recommendation:  the route, we recommend you wear sandal, repellent of insects right of the heat and respect the sign.
